Janusz Jutrzenka Trzebiatowski - Paintings
from 11 October 2026
The exhibition has been open since 11 October 2026: 26 paintings and four medals by a Krak贸w painter, sculptor and medallist born in 1936, at the Regional Museum in Krasnystaw. The museum has not announced a closing date. It publishes no English text; the words below are our translation of its Polish description.
Regional Museum in Krasnystaw on the exhibition:
In 1954 Janusz Trzebiatowski began his studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Krak贸w. His work spans painting, sculpture, posters, medal art, architecture and stage design, as well as poetry. In the course of his rich artistic career he has been associated with many cultural institutions in Poland. In 2023 Dw贸r Sztuki (the Art Manor) opened in Siennica R贸偶ana - the first gallery of modern art in a Polish village, founded on his initiative. Trzebiatowski holds the Knight’s Cross and the Officer’s Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta and the Golden Laurel for Mastery in Art.
What to expect
This is a show of one artist and one field of his work: painting. According to the museum’s announcement, the show comprises 26 paintings, with four medals of his making beside them. The museum gives no titles, no dates of the works and no room for the display. The exhibition poster shows a painting in deep red and dark blue, with soft, rippling streaks.
The most interesting thread here is local. The museum mentions paintings by Trzebiatowski that were given to its collection. It does not say who gave them or whether they hang in this show. For the opening on 11 October at 17:00 the museum announced a recital by the pianist Jolanta Szczerba-Stawarz, who was to play nine pieces of her own inspired by those paintings.
Allow 30-40 minutes for the exhibition itself. That is an editorial estimate, as the museum gives no visiting time. If you are coming from afar, combine it with the permanent galleries in the baroque former Jesuit college: an hour and a half covers the lot.
Context
Janusz Jutrzenka Trzebiatowski was born in 1936 in Chojnice and has lived and worked in Krak贸w since his studies at the Academy of Fine Arts there. Besides paintings he makes medals, sculptures, posters and stage designs. According to Wikipedia he has published twelve volumes of poetry, and in 2023 he received the Gold Medal for Merit to Culture - Gloria Artis. The Janusz Trzebiatowski Gallery-Museum (Galeria Muzeum Janusza Trzebiatowskiego) was founded in Chojnice.
His ties to the Krasnystaw district go well beyond this one show. As the Polish Press Agency reported, the artist has worked with the municipality of Siennica R贸偶ana since 1982. In January 2023 Dw贸r Sztuki opened there in a restored manor house, with a permanent display of works Trzebiatowski donated free of charge. Siennica R贸偶ana lies about 11 km from Krasnystaw as the crow flies.

Who it is for: worthwhile for people from the region who know Dw贸r Sztuki in Siennica R贸偶ana and want to see a different selection by the same artist. It also works as a stop on the way between Lublin and Zamo艣膰, combined with the museum’s permanent galleries. Skip it if you are after a large retrospective. This is 26 paintings in a regional museum, and the announcement neither describes individual works nor mentions a catalogue.
