Free museums in Krakow on Sunday
Free museums in Krakow on a Sunday come down to one easy choice and one excursion. The Home Army Museum , the story of the Polish Underground State from 1939 onwards, is under 500 metres from Krak贸w G艂贸wny station, which makes it the obvious stop on a travel day. The Museum of the Scouting Movement sits in an Austrian fort in Swoszowice, 30-40 minutes from the Main Square. Outside the city, the Aleksander K艂osi艅ski Museum in K臋ty is also free on Sundays.

Tips for Sunday
- Home Army Museum: be there by 16:00. It opens 10:00-17:00, but last admission and ticket sales end an hour before closing. The free Sunday covers the exhibitions for the whole opening day, which also makes Sunday its busiest day.
- Home Army Museum: English labels have gaps. Captions are bilingual on much of the route but not all of it, particularly downstairs, where the lower floor is deliberately dark. Download the museum’s object app before you go and bring a phone torch.
- Scouting Movement museum: collect a pass online. Sunday passes go fast: take one on bilety.muzeumkrakowa.pl, because the desk only releases what is left. Weekend hours are 10:00-18:00, with last entry an hour before closing.
- Scouting Movement museum: skip it on a short stay unless you read Polish. The labels are written for a Polish audience, and no English captions or audio guide are advertised. The easiest route is the train to Krak贸w Swoszowice and a ten-minute walk; allow 90 minutes inside plus over an hour of travel there and back.
- K臋ty: not worth a trip on its own. The museum is about 55 km west of Krakow, roughly an hour by car, and on Sundays opens 10:00-14:00. It earns a visit only if you are already in O艣wi臋cim or Bielsko-Bia艂a. It is closed on Sundays until 27 September 2026.
- The National Museum charges on Sundays. Every open branch is free on Tuesday instead, so move those visits if you can.
