Free museums in Krakow on Saturday
Saturday is the weakest day for free museums in Krakow: no museum in the city is free every Saturday. The one regular exception comes once a month, when the ING PAN Geological Museum near Wawel waives its 4 PLN ticket (3 PLN reduced) on the last Saturday. For the rest of a Saturday in town, lean on the museums that never charge, and keep the Home Army Museum for Sunday.
No Krakow museums with free Saturday admission this week. See the free museums by weekday calendar.
Tips for Saturday
- Last Saturday of the month: free and open late. On the last Thursday, Friday and Saturday of each month the Geological Museum opens 11:00-18:00 instead of its short morning hours; on other Saturdays it closes at 14:00. Allow 45 minutes.
- Check the museum’s notices first. The last weekend is not guaranteed: the museum announced it will be closed on 24-26 September 2026 for the regional science festival MaÅ‚opolska Noc Naukowców, so Saturday 26 September 2026 is not a free day. Closures like this appear on the museum’s own page.
- Worth it for rock fans, not for everyone. The museum publishes nothing about English labels and its exhibition description exists in Polish only, so bring a phone translation app for the captions. Visitors go in through a carriage gateway, and the museum shares its block with the Archaeological Museum .
- Dominican Museum: Saturday until 16:00, booked slots only. The Dominican Museum never charges, but you need a free ticket reserved online for a set time. Saturday is the last day of its Thursday-to-Saturday week.
- Amber Museum: open until 20:00. The Amber Museum , two minutes from the Main Square, is free every day with no booking. Since November 2023 it is a single reduced display inside a jewellery gallery, about a 20-minute stop.
- Home Army Museum: wait a day. On Saturday the Home Army Museum charges its standard 25 PLN, while on Sunday its exhibitions are free. It is under 500 metres from Kraków Główny station.
