Free museums in Krakow on Monday
Free museums in Krakow on a Monday include two of the sights most visitors put first: Schindler’s Factory and the Old Synagogue in Kazimierz. Both keep short hours that day, 10:00 to 15:00, and only one of them lets you reserve a free pass online. Wawel Royal Castle opens selected exhibitions for free, while the Town Hall Tower on the Main Square and the Archaeological Museum’s Nowa Huta-Branice branch complete the list.

Tips for Monday
- Schindler’s Factory: desk only, short day. On the free Monday there is no online booking: passes come from a limited pool at the ticket desk, and the queue forms before the 10:00 opening. Last admission is 1.5 hours before closing, which means 13:30.
- Short stay? Pay for Schindler’s. If this is the one museum you cannot miss, the 60 PLN timed ticket on another day is the safer plan; online sales open 90 days ahead. Labels and panels are in Polish and English throughout, so you do not need a guide to follow the story.
- Old Synagogue: reserve the free pass. Free Monday passes are released on bilety.muzeumkrakowa.pl, and the desk hands out whatever is left. Last admission is 14:30. The museum does not say which languages its labels use; allow 45 to 60 minutes.
- Factory first, synagogue second. Start at Schindler’s at 10:00, then walk about 20 minutes over the Bernatek footbridge into Kazimierz. Doing it the other way round means joining the factory queue late, when the desk-only pool may already be thin.
- Wawel on a Monday is part of a castle. Monday hours are 10:00-16:00. In 2026 the free list is Castle Underground from 1 July to 30 September (plus Between the Walls from August), then Castle Second Floor and the Crown Treasury from 1 October to 31 December. Passes are issued at the desk on the day only, for up to five visitors per person.
- If Wawel’s passes are gone. The castle warns they can run out before the desks close. The hill and the outer courtyard need no ticket, so the morning is not wasted. Beyond Mondays, the castle opens selected exhibitions for free every November under its Darmowy Listopad (Free November) scheme.
- Town Hall Tower: bookable and central. Free Monday passes go out online at bilety.muzeumkrakowa.pl, and the tower keeps shorter hours that day, 11:00-16:00. Allow 45 minutes; no label language is published.
- Branice: skip it on a one- or two-day visit. It is a half-day trip: tram 10 or 21 to Plesz贸w, then bus 131 to Sasanek, and the branch opens only 10:00-14:00 on weekdays. Labels are in Polish, so go for the 16th-century stone tower and the park rather than the exhibitions.
